The UK Daily Mail reported statistics released by The Stroke Association that revealed that nearly a quarter of people in the UK and Wales are suffering from high blood pressure.  The Stroke Association found that 23.8 per cent of the 19,318 people tested had high blood pressure without even knowing it.

Professor Averil Mansfield, chairman of The Stroke Association, said: "These statistics reveal that many of us are completely unaware of our own blood pressure level."  "However the first and most essential step is a regular blood pressure check so that the complications of high blood pressure can be prevented."

This is a good reminder to suggest to family and friends that they too have their blood pressure checked regularly.
