Clinical research summary into how home monitoring can help blood pressure
levels
Study: The British Medical Journal --- "Blood pressure control by home monitoring" Published June 2004.
Kellie's summary: The study analyzed the results from 18 trials to show the proportion of
people achieving their target blood pressure levels was increased by home
monitoring. The study at St Georges' Hospital Medical School, London also
showed blood pressure control was improved with home monitoring. Systolic
blood pressure levels were lower in people with hypertension who home
monitored their blood pressure than in those who only had their blood
pressure checked by a practitioner by 4.2mmHg. Diastolic blood pressure was
lower by 2.4mm Hg, and mean blood pressure was lower by 4.4mm Hg in those
who monitored their blood pressure from home.
